Orchard Place Elementary School Kindergarteners in Ms. Samantha Howe's class started their morning with a quick phonics review of the letter "O."

They then worked on a phonics lesson on their own in which they had to find and say long vowel sounds.

After a few phonics games, they gathered on the carpet with Ms. Howe.

The students continued sounding out words, focusing on the sound of the letter "X.

As they followed along with a video, they were asked to trace the letter "X," helping them work on their writing skills.

They looked at words on the board and were asked to put together the two that rhymed, and spent time sounding out the letters "W, G and E."

After their phonics lesson it was time to work on a few math lessons in small groups.

Students were tasked with identifying and tracing shapes.

They also worked on addition and subtraction problems, using two different colored spinners to help them count.

Students also learned about coins, identifying them and learning what their value is.
