Orchard Place
Orchard Place Elementary School fourth graders in Ms. Dizonno's class participated in a fun social emotional learning activity recently.
Ms. Dizonno began the activity by writing a letter on the white board and then had the students walk around the classroom while a song was playing.
When the song stopped, the students had to find a partner, give them a high five and then stand back to back so they couldn't see each other's white boards.
The students had one minute to write down something that started with the letter Ms. Dizonno wrote on the board.
Categories included their favorite restaurant, their favorite band and their favorite food.
The goal was for the students who were partnered up to not write down the same answer.
If their answers matched then they were out of the game, but if their answers were different they could participate in the next round.
It was a fun activity that helped the students learn about collaboration and communication with their peers.
